Who Are You Serving?
Steve Scalici
Treasure Coast Financial

Over the next five months, we’ll explore the five uses for money. Since we all know that God blesses those who use the money He’s given them to promote His Kingdom. One of the main blessings He give us is the joy that we ourselves receive when God uses us to be his tool for ministering to someone in need.

The apostle Paul says it best in his letter to the church at Corinth:

This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!  ~ 2 Corinthians 9:12-15

God's Power to Heal You from the Inside Out
by Jon Coates with Rebekah Montgomery

I am the Lord who heals you…” (Exodus 15:26b)

When your heart is shattered, there is one truth you need to hold on to: God loves you unconditionally.

It’s true: Satan’s lies can greatly sway you and me during those vulnerable moments. But regardless of our weakness and fears, God does hear us when we call for his help. We need to hold on to this important truth.

Changing your Life Better in 2007

Dan Miller
48days.com

Are you living aimlessly or with a clear sense of purpose and direction?

Often, we have someone call our 48 Days offices about making a change in his or her life. We send information and then hear nothing. Two years later, that person calls and says, "Now I’m ready to really create a plan." What I always wonder is, What did they do for those two years? And usually, when we meet, it confirms my suspicion that they simply continued doing what they had been doing. We know that we all have a tendency toward continuing the status quo. But once you have made a decision, what would cause you to wait? If you said you wanted to be in better shape physically, when would you like to start? If you wanted to do better financially, when would you like to get started? Many times the years go by and I hear people regret that they did not start something earlier. >>Read More>>

World Harvest Medical Relief To South Asia Quake Survivors

On October 8th, 2005 (Saturday), 10 days ago just before 9.am. (1 a.m. ET), a 7.6 magnitude quake has hit Pakistan. As of today, the death toll has raised to 47,700, and injuries to 67,000 in Pakistan, making it one of the most devastating earthquakes that hit South Asia in recorded history.

It is Ramadan in Pakistan which is a holy moth of prayer that dictates fasting from dawn to dusk.  And as the Muslim were gathering for a prayer session, the earthquake struck suddenly just outside Muzaffarabad, a city of 70,000 people 65 miles northeast of Islamabad, at the foothills of the Himalayas, where the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. >>Read Full Story>>

Life to the Fullest
By Greg Laurie

“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

—John 10:10

“But I cannot do any of these things,” the chief said. “I am too old.  It seems to me that being old and being a Christian are being the same thing.”

That is how a lot of people view the Christian life.  They see Christians living by certain standards, and it bothers them that we have the audacity, in their minds, to try to push our supposedly outmoded views on them. >>Read Full Story>>

It's Not Unusual to Feel Discouraged

By K.P. Yohannan
Gospel Asia

How are you? At this moment, how are you doing? Perhaps you are on the mountaintop ... or maybe you're camping out in the valley? Or maybe someone you know is going through a tough time.

I think it is safe to say that discouragement comes to the best of us. One of the most difficult things in life is to stay encouraged. The stuff that keeps us going continually leaks out. It seems we are so fragile, prone to live by our feelings and emotions, so easily discouraged.>>Read Full Story>>

Jesus' Words on Wealth Trump The Apprentice Mentality
Steve Scalici, CFP®

"A rich man had a fertile farm that produced fine crops. In fact, his barns were full to overflowing. So he said, 'I know! I'll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I'll have room enough to store everything. And I'll sit back and say to myself,' My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!' But God said to him, 'You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get it all?' Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God." >>Read Full Story>>

Love and the Lonely: A Valentine for the Disconnected

by Jim Robinson (Crosswalk.com)

When I was in the second grade, I fell in love with Maggie Argo. Maggie Argo had golden hair and freckles and wore pretty print dresses. When she smiled, the whole room lit up, and I would feel a sort of warm flush across my cheeks.

Though I wasn’t really sure what love was supposed to feel like, and didn’t really admit even wanting to feel it, something nonetheless would wrap itself around my aching heart every time this little girl came near me. When I looked at her, an emptiness inside me filled. Maggie Argo took my breath away. >>Read Full Story>>

Let Your Intelligence and Faith Work Together
by Whitney Hopler (Crosswalk.com)

Some people see the world only in terms of obvious physical realities. Others view the world through the lens of blind faith that doesn't fully engage their minds. But both camps of people are like the Cyclopes of ancient stories whose vision is limited to what they can see with only one eye. They're missing out on the world's multidimensional glory.

The only way to see the world as God meant you to see it is to look at it with both "eyes" He has given you - your intelligence and your spirituality.  If you develop both your IQ (intelligence quotient) and SQ (spiritual quotient), you'll be able to see the full depth and beauty of yourself, others, and the universe God has created.

Dealing with Doubts?
by Robert and Rosemary Barners (Crosswalk.com)

You will experience doubts and insecurities in even the healthiest relationship. The most important thing is not to avoid these feelings, but to accept them and deal with them well

The first step is to be willing to acknowledge that feelings of doubt are okay to have. Looking back over your shoulder once you've decided on a course is only natural.

Still, you may find yourself asking about the people who have entered into serious relationships and seem to have no doubts at all. Why is it that some people seem so confident and others seem plagued with doubts? >>Read Full Story>>

Home Mortgages -- Good Tax Deductions?
By Howard Dayton (Baptist Press)

A home mortgage interest deduction is often misunderstood. In order to recoup all of the interest paid on a mortgage, a person would have to be in the 100 percent tax bracket. However, most people pay around 30 percent of their income in taxes. Therefore, the IRS deduction they receive is 30 percent of the interest paid on the mortgage. >>Read Full Story>>

2003 Krispy Kreme Fund Raising

The amount raised was more than $500. Praise the Lord! Thanks to all your various efforts to make this possible. It’s amazing to see some of you opened a booth at UT and collaborated to sell the cards and doughnuts. Some actually had the audacity to sell them from house to house. Some offered them at works or schools, with very creative methods which perhaps too many to list them all here. But, thank God, and thank you
